Sanga
Text - Clio Van de walle
Rap Theater play
Writing - 01 - 2020
Sanga sees her destiny change the day her family forcefully marries her. Refusing to submit, the little girl has only one obsession: rapping. Through an initiatory journey, Sanga makes his way and encounters the founding characters of his life.
Written like a rap flow that never stops, the piece propels us in turn to the land of the Sun, symbol of a universal, violent and warm Orient, and to the land of Uncle Teddy, an idealized West with its share of disappointments.
The theme of the play, the forced marriage of young girls, is very topical. To account for this absurdity,Sanga immerses us in an offbeat and poetic universe, mixing intrinsically to the text of the piece a rap musical libretto and choreographic scores.
“Sanga” is a finalist of the Plateaux de Chelles in January 2020, and favorite of Nicolas Lormeau from La Comédie Française.
40 minutes of the play will be staged by Clio Van de Walle in September 2021 as part of the Théâtre Gérard Philippe companionships.

Night is twenty years old. She lives in a country where women are not allowed to sing.
Taking advantage of the wind of revolt that is blowing in her country during a confinement imposed on the population, she will participate on the Internet in the largest International Singing Competition by pretending to be a man. His dream: to give a live open-air concert in the ruins of the Central University, located on the border between the two enemy cities.
